Blended Youth Mental Health First Aid Training

This training gives you the skills you need to reach out and provide initial support to youth who may be developing a mental health or substance use problem and help connect them to appropriate care. Learners will complete a 2-hour, self-paced online course, and participate in a 5.5-hours, instructor-led in-person training. The course covers: * Common signs and symptoms of mental health challenges. * Common signs and symptoms of substance use challenges. * How to interact with a person in crisis. * How to connect a person with help. * Expanded content on trauma, substance use and self-care. Learn how to respond with the Mental Health First Aid Action Plan (ALGEE ): * Assess for risk of suicide or harm. * Listen nonjudgmentally. * Give reassurance and information. * Encourage appropriate professional help. ENCOURAGE SELF-HELP AND OTHER SUPPORT STRATEGIES. This training is offered by Safe & Sound Hillsborough [https://safeandsoundhillsborough.org/] in partnership with the Children's Board of Hillsborough County [https://www.childrensboard.org/]. It is FREE and open to the public thanks to a grant provided by BayCare. Participants must live or work in Hillsborough County.
