Mayor Glenda Hood Sign Unveiling

The community is invited to celebrate and honor former Mayor Glenda Hood as we officially rename Harbor Park. Mayor Hood is a central figure in our city’s 150 history. As Orlando’s first woman Mayor, she served the City Beautiful for three terms starting in 1992. Her public service career also included serving more than 10 years as an Orlando city council member, and later, the statewide role of Florida’s Secretary of State from 2003 to 2005. Among her most significant impacts include her leadership in the transformation of the city’s large military training facility after it closed, into the area now known as Baldwin Park. She championed the city’s master plan that is now a global model for adaptive re-use and urban redevelopment. We invite the community to gather as we commemorate her lasting impact on our community.
