The Cut and Destroy Art Collective evolved from the shallow swamps of South Florida. Born from the depths of founder Edda Martinez’s mind, it’s fueled by the raw, vibrant culture that shaped them. Inspired by the grit of the hardcore/punk DIY scene, the eerie, over-the-top energy of ‘80s horror films, and the chaos of a Saturday morning cartoon, their mind runs non-stop—always piecing together things that don’t normally fit, pushing boundaries, and making something new out of the unexpected. Cut and Destroy is a space for that restless energy to take form, where art is raw, unfiltered, and always in motion. Workshop: The Cut and Destroy Collage Workshop is a creative meet-up designed to challenge your creativity and bring people together through the art of collage. Collage is about cutting, rearranging, and piecing together different images, textures, and text to form something new—without rules or limits. How It Works: We’ll kick things off by introducing the collective and explaining the event structure. To push creativity outside the box, each participant will receive one mystery cutout—a random image or element to incorporate into their piece. Participants will have the chance to trade if they wish. Once everyone is set with their cutout, the real hunt begins. You’ll have two hours to sift through books and magazines, gathering visuals that complement or contrast with your mystery piece. After that, we encourage everyone to start assembling their collages, bringing their unique vision to life. This is an opportunity to experiment, connect, and create in a space that values artistic freedom and community. No experience needed—just show up and get cutting. With life moving so fast, leaving little time for ourselves, Cut and Destroy was created as a space open to all—to take back a few hours of the day, leave the worries at home, and just focus on creating. We’re here to remind you that creating isn’t just about making things—it’s about taking control, expressing what words can’t, and finding space to breathe. Supplies: Cut and Destroy will provide most of the supplies, including books, magazines, and other materials to cut and assemble. However, participants are encouraged to bring their own as supplies are provided on a first come, first served basis. Bringing your own also means you can keep cutting and destroying at home—because the creativity doesn’t have to end when the workshop does. * Books, magazines, comics or newspaper * Scissors and/or x-acto knives * Glue (Glue-stick is preferred) * Cutting Mat – helps protect the tables for future use! * Cardstock and/or construction paper * Optional: Tape (clear, washi, masking), Stickers, Stamps, Fabric or Stencils
