Invasive Plant Removal: Weed Wrangle at American Beach

LOCATION: 1943 Lewis St, Fernandina Beach, FL 32034 TIME: 10AM to 11Am Volunteer with UF/IFAS Extension Nassau County to remove asparagus fern, an invasive plant (asparagus athiopicus). This helps local dune wildlife thrive. Animals such as gopher tortoises, and more depend on native plants, but the asparagus fern are stealing space and nutrients from those native plants. Please bring shovels and hand-cultivators, as this plant has extensive roots and root crowns.
