Jackson Street Roots Legacies | Vol. 1: Overton Berry's 90th Year Tribute

A jazz tribute honoring Overton Berry’s legacy with Northwest musicians and rising stars

The 2026 Jackson Street Jazz Festival (JSJF) is proud to partner with host sponsor Fountainhead Gallery to present a satellite performance of the 2026 Jackson Street Jazz Festival Jackson Street Roots Legacies | Vol. 1: Overton Berry's 90th Year Tribute. This special satellite performance honors the enduring influence and seven-decade legacy of a beloved Seattle jazz legend. More than just a concert, this is a true intergenerational bridge celebrating the deep roots and ongoing evolution of the Central District’s rich African American music tradition. In a poetic nod to Overton Berry’s remarkable longevity and his own career start at just 16 years old, Executive Producer Eugenie Jones has paired Seattle master pianist Randy Halberstadt with 17-year-old emerging prodigy Xavier Colón. This thoughtful pairing honors the spirit of a near-seven-decade career that Berry began in Seattle Central District at 16 years of age, influencing the depth and breadth of the legendary African American jazz legacy. To deliver the authentic, timeless soundscapes that Berry championed for over 50 years, the performance will be anchored by Overton’s classic studio and performance partners: Jeff Davies on bass and Rick Spano drums with Jones as guest vocalist. Why You Can't Miss It Overton Berry didn't just play music; he lived inside it, famously sharing that true musicianship requires "listening with your whole being." This tribute celebrates his profound philosophy of musical flow, community, and unconditional love for the craft. Secure your tickets now to witness an extraordinary lineup of Northwest masters and rising stars keeping the soul of Jackson Street alive.
