Building High Performing Boards: Laying the Foundation

Join the Cooper Foundation on May 7th from 5:00 - 7:00pm at the Bledsoe-Miller STEAM Center (300 N. MLK Jr. Blvd) for a free training on nonprofit board governance. Doors open at 4:45pm. A light meal will be provided. This training is intended for new board members, current board members, community members who are considering joining a nonprofit governance board, or nonprofit professionals wanting to learn more about nonprofit governing boards. The presentation by Felicia Goodman, Executive Director of Cooper Foundation ,will include the following: * Legal Duties & Basic Responsibilities of Nonprofit Board Members * Building a Great Board * Trends in Board Structure for Leading Organizations Schedule: * 4:45 pm - Doors open for networking and dinner * 5:00 pm - Program begins * 7:00 pm - Program concludes Additional Details: * Handouts will be provided at the training This training will be offered 2-3 times each year so that nonprofit boards can ensure that new board members are trained in board governance.
