RESOURCE: A Workshop for Creative Wellbeing & Collective Alchemy

We gather to return creativity to its living root system: our emotions, our ancestors, our relationship to spirit, the ecologies and intersectionalities we live within—all of it can be included in our creative alchemy to meet the complexity of our times. Each RESOURCE workshop will weave between the personal and collective stakes of our creative process by invoking an elemental allegory of climate change within Los Angeles: rivers confined within concrete, fire revealing the fragility of home, oil extraction bargaining the future, the invisible externalities of AI. As we witness and embody these systemic patterns that seem so unchanging and unsolvable, we will bring awareness to the implicit assumptions of culture woven through the fabric of our everyday lives, untouchable by anything other than imagination. Together, we will explore what collective complexity can show us about our own intimate relationship with the cosmologies that contain our imagining and what our role can be as resourced artists in creating transformation. When artists are connected to the deep source of our creative process, the stories we tell become wider than the systems of domination.
