Blended Youth Mental Health First Aid Training

A free training on supporting youth with mental health challenges using a 5-step action plan

Join us for a free day of learning! Tri-County, in collaboration with Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Walker County, is excited to offer Youth MHFA, the nationally recognized, evidence-based training, to help equip our community to support youth struggling with mental health or substance use challenges. Through interactive instruction and hands-on activities, we hope it'll increase your confidence to respond and ability to offer meaningful support to others. The training covers common mental health and substance use challenges in youth—such as depression, anxiety, eating disorders, and ADHD—and introduces a practical 5-step action plan to guide your response in both crisis and non-crisis situations. **Please note: This training includes 2 hours of pre-work to be completed in our Connect learning platform prior to the in person instructor-led session. The instructor will send out information on this about 2 weeks prior to the in person instructor led session. **Please note: We require a minimun of 5 participants to conduct the training. What You’ll Gain * Practical skills to recognize and respond to mental health or substance use challenges in adults * Resources in our community for referrals and ongoing support * Self-care tools for the MHFAider Certifications This course qualifies you to earn: Mental Health First Aid (MHFA): 3-year certification To request your certificate and CEU supporting documents, please email us after attending the training. About Mental Health First Aid Mental Health First Aid [https://www.mentalhealthfirstaid.org/] is a skills-based training that teaches you how to identify, understand, and respond to signs of mental health or substance use challenges using a 5-step action plan (ALGEE) to guide you through how to assess risk, listen without judgment, and connect someone to professional help. MHFA helps you build the confidence to step in when someone may be struggling. Scenarios and exercises make the learning practical, so you leave ready to help in real-life situations.
