Michele Rushworth & Tatsiana Mikhailava Artist's Reception

An artist’s reception for Michele Rushworth’s “Splash of Light,” featuring oil paintings inspired by Pacific Northwest waters

Michele Rushworth Michele Rushworth presents "Splash of Light", an exhibition centered around the beautiful light on the water around the Pacific Northwest. Grounded in contemporary impressionism, Michele Rushworth’s oil paintings grow out of a lifelong delight in gazing at water. Inspired by sea kayaking adventures, each piece translates personal memories into vibrant canvas landscapes. This collection invites you to share the experience of profound peace, freedom, and light found on or near our Pacific Northwest waters. "This collection serves as an invitation into my happiest memories in these places. I paint exclusively from my own personal experiences, memories, and references. This allows me to create a direct, emotional connection with the viewer and share the joy of my journeys. In this body of work, I’m trying to capture the wondrous variety of water itself—from smooth, silky surfaces to glossy ribbons of dancing light. I’m captivated by the hidden coves, ponds and tiny islands accessible only by kayak, where rocks sparkle beneath the surface and lilies float. By translating my personal adventures onto canvas, I hope to distill and share the expansive, vibrant joy of witnessing the grand power and quiet splendors of our beautiful Pacific Northwest waters with the viewer." -Michele Rushworth
