Attending this information session is an opportunity to better understand a new, community-centered vision for the future of the Historic Gas Plant District. Foundation Vision Partners has been shortlisted by the City of St. Petersburg and the team will walk through how its approach differs from the “all-eggs-in-one-basket” model, emphasizing City control, phased implementation, and ongoing public input. Our team also participated in the City’s public presentation on April 30 but time was limited. This session gives both the public and the team the time and space to fully share, discuss, and explore this vision. Ours is the only idea in which the City of St. Petersburg retains ownership of the land. Every other shortlisted proposal asks the City to hand over the keys to 86 acres of our shared history to a single developer. Ours keeps the land in the City’s hands where it belongs. The session will break down how a master planning and infrastructure-first strategy can deliver visible progress sooner, including job creation, new development opportunities, and long-term economic benefits. Just as important, attendees will learn how this model is designed to reduce risk by avoiding reliance on a single, large, uncertain financial commitment or developer. Participants will also have the chance to ask questions, share feedback, and better understand how this plan aims to create more equitable, inclusive, and sustainable outcomes for St. Petersburg.
