The Volusia County Explore Volusia program invites you to climb aboard the eco-buggy with Environmental Specialist Tommy Nordmann and Florida Forest Service staff for an eco-buggy tour of Tiger Bay State Forest during Prescribed Fire Awareness Week. The tour will provide the public with the opportunity to see how Florida Forest Service equipment is used in the field. Forest rangers will be present to answer questions about equipment, prescribed fire, and wildfire awareness. ** Important note: Please arrive 15 minutes prior to complete a waiver. Waivers must be completed in full to participate in the program. Waivers can be downloaded at Explore Volusia [https://www.volusia.org/services/community-services/resource-stewardship/land-management/explore-volusia.stml] and completed ahead of time. ACTIVITY: The tour will take place on a hay-ride style, covered trailer with benches. There will be some easy, short walks. RESERVATIONS: Required. Unless you have a confirmation email, you are not registered. TICKETS: No printed ticket is necessary. AGES: All ages are welcome. ATTIRE: closed-toe shoes that can get muddy and wet and comfortable clothing for the outdoors ** Some of our trails have mud and/or standing water because they are located in wetland ecosystems and because of seasonal rains and high tides. We recommend you bring a pair of waterproof boots in addition to your regular hiking shoes if you don't want your shoes to get wet. Our leader will let you know the condition of the trails prior to the start of the program. WHAT TO BRING: water, sunscreen, and bug spray FACILITIES: There are bathrooms on site. For more information, contact Tommy Nordmann at tnordmann@volusia.org or call (386) 943-7081, ext. 21266. ** Following the successful completion of your registration, you should receive a confirmation email, and two days prior to the program you will receive a reminder email. These emails are sent automatically by Eventbrite. If you do not receive them, please contact Tommy at the email address above.
